The crossbeam has gone out askew on the treddle

I'm sorry to give you the very sad news
That your dear old mother has gone
We buried her down at the church in Kilkelly
Your brothers and Brigid were there

I've been amazingly productive so far this vacation! Somebody should give me a cookie. I've vacuumed and cleaned the house, colourized my cut-out characters, started on a weird little Gorey-ish poem, and yesterday I signed up at NaNoWriMo.

That's right. Me. In a writing marathon. Commiting myself for an entire month. A bit scary, but I'm really geared - bet the Nano-veterans laugh scornfully seeing me, fresh-faced and naïve, thinking this will be fun. Spent a few hours of my insomnia yesterday plotting - first I thought I had no plot, then I couldn't choose between two, and eventually I discovered I could pair them. Heh.

So my only concern so far is that it would be pracitical to get high on caffeine; And since I don't drink coke, tea or coffee, it might get hard. So I thought I could try to experiement a bit - who knows, maybe my taste buds have matured the last few years. So now practically live, I'll take my first sip of coffee since -- well, it's been quite a number of years. S'here I go!

...

Yeeuurgh! That tastes like -- something laminated.

But wait, not everybody likes their coffee black - I'll add some milk and see what happens!

...

Eugh. Slightly better - now it's some slightly cooler laminated artifact.

The taste won't go away! Abort mission, Abort mission! Chokolate milk to the rescue!

Okay, coffee is a no-no. *Sigh* Maybe I should get high on sugar instead, but that does all kinds of weird hoo-ha to my concentration. But wait, cocoa has caffeine, doesn't it? I like cocoa! I can stay awake with cocoa! Success!

And thus concludes today's experiemt. Discuss.

Ok, this is completely random :) but being a computer science student I admit to having mastered all the vagaries of caffeine....don't know if you're one for soda at all, but if so, might I recommend Mountain Dew? yummy lemonlime caffeinated goodness!

Oh, by all means - randomness is what makes the world go round!

But sadly, no, I never drink soda. The sparkle bits have all sorts of annoying effects on me. Makes it hell finding anything to drink in cheap restaurants, I tell you.

I know what you mean, my brother doesn't like it either for the same reason.

Umm....yummy minty goodness? ;-)

Wow! That sounds like a great idea, I had no idea those existed. Caffeine highs are possible even for me, that's swell.

...And is that a Sandman icon I see before me?
